1944 Yearbook
1944 was an extraordinary year for the
461st Bombardment Group (H). During the year, the organization moved from
its training base of Hammer Field in Fresno, California to its combat station of
Torretta Field at Cerignola, Italy. It began combat missions in April, 1944
and by the end of the year it had become one of the highest regarded Bomb Groups
in the Fifteenth Air Force. Toward the end of 1944, the 461st published a
yearbook summarizing the activities of this fantastic year. It's difficult
to reproduce this yearbook, but I managed to get a copy of it that is in fairly
